This is officially my new go to everyday loaf. You can leave out the garlic or substitute it with something else. Works well with a mashed banana or applesauce… experiment all you like! This is a very forgiving bread recipe.
Works as a loaf for sandwich bread, or little dinner rolls, even hamburger buns!
I know, I know… I used salt! Salt helps control the rise in bread making. You most definitely can leave it out entirely. I can afford to have a tiny bit. The 1/4 tsp in this recipe brings it to about 70mg of sodium per slice.
Garlic Bread Loaf
Roasted Garlic Bread Loaf

- KitchenAid Mixer
Ingredients
- 2 ⅓ Cup King Arthur Unbleached All Purpose Flour
- 4 Tbsp Sugar
- ¼ tsp Himalayan Pink Salt optional
- 1 Head Garlic, Roasted
- 1 Egg
- ¼ Cup Whole Milk
- ½ Tbsp Active Dry Yeast
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
Instructions
- Sift flour into mixing bowl of stand mixer
- Add sugar, mashed roasted garlic, and yeast to flour
- Lightly beat egg and milk, then pour into mixing bowl with other ingredients
- Turn mixer speed on low speed 1 for about 2 minutes to incorporate ingredients
- Turn mixer speed up 1 notch to speed 2 and let dough knead for 20 minutes
- Shape dough into a ball, place in bowl covered with plastic wrap in warm spot to rise for 60 minutes
- Remove dough from bowl and shape into the loaf, rolls, or whatever shape you are looking for
- Place dough in desired pan lightly sprayed with cooking spray
- Cover and let rise another 60 minutes
- Bake until internal temp is 200F … about 35 minutes for 1 loaf or 17 minutes for 2 small loaves
